AI will replace my doctor very soon.

I spend several hours a day trying to master various AI platforms. My favorites are ChatGPT and NotebookLM. I have not been very happy with Gemini.

Yesterday, I received my lab results from my doctor in LA. I decided to compare these results with other lab tests I’ve had over the last two years. Only ChatGPT did a good job. I asked it to create a table showing the values for each test side by side, leaving a blank where there were no results, and including the reference ranges. It did an excellent job. It also provided observations about the various changes over the last few years and highlighted potential areas of concern (fortunately, there was almost nothing, as my lab results are great—not only for my age but for any age).

The work done by ChatGPT would never be done by any of my doctors, especially considering that some of the labs were in English, some in Dutch, and some in Hebrew. The units were even different in some cases. If I had tried to do this myself, it would have taken many hours. ChatGPT completed it in just a few minutes.

NotebookLM attempted the task but didn’t do it in a way that was useful to me. Gemini, on the other hand, couldn’t get anything right. Perhaps I could have experimented more with changing the prompts.

I’m pretty sure that by next year, I’ll rely on ChatGPT or some other AI as my general practitioner.

  1. Avram,

It would be difficult to exaggerate how much this simple blog post has changed my perspective of AI in medicine. I am happy to report that after a decade of searching for an idea to take my research product directly to the public, I now have it!

Thanks, and keep up the great work!
