I now have 50,000 views of my post on TwoThirds Done, the blog that I started eight years ago, when I turned sixty. Figuring that it might take two minutes a blog post, it would seem that some seventy days were consumed by readers withthese posts. I have posted 240 times. I probably takes me … Continue reading
American Express: The first Social Network?
I am in Copenhagen now and remembering my first visit to this city. I like to think about that time. After all, it was 1966 and I was just 21 years old. had moved to study music in Paris in the fall of 1965, and to try to get over my broken heart. Neither of … Continue reading
The Mouse that Roared: Doug Engelbart
A lot of people are writing about Doug Engelbart one of the true pioneers of computer technology. Many of them are recounting their interactions and friendships. I only met him once. It was about 1967 or 1968 and I was around 22 years old and working with Joe Kamiya at the Langley Porter Institute (UC Medical Center) doing the first work in brain wave bio feedback. This is not “The Resurrection of Wintel: Part III”
I am embarrassed that it has taken me so long to finish my blog post on the resurrection of Wintel. The combination of figuring out the future of computing and the best actions for Intel and Microsoft is taking a lot of effort at a time when I am personally very busy. I hope to … Continue reading
The Resurrection of Wintel Part 2
Unfortunately, I have to announce that this blog post will have more than two parts. This part will deal with some important concepts that will inform some of the conclusions I will make later. First a recap of Part 1. Part 1 mostly dealt with the departure of Paul Otellini, the former CEO. I thought … Continue reading
The Resurrection of Wintel Part 1.
I never imagined I would be writing this post. I was planing on writing what I thought would be my last post about Intel. It was to deal with the departure of Paul Otellini the former CEO and a recent article about him published by the Atlantic. I will do an abbreviated comment on that and then begin to get into the meat of the Wintel Resurrection.

Midas List: The class of 2013
Forbes just published their Midas List of the Top 100 Venture Capital Investors. I was listed in the top ten (number eight) ten years ago. That was the last time I appeared on the list. It was interesting to me to see the top ten of 2013 and to realize that not one person … Continue reading
What happens when a frozen egg meets a frozen sperm
I just read a wonderful article about a 35 year old woman that froze 70 of her eggs. Evidently, it cost her $50,000 but it is an insurance policy that will allow her to have children in her 40’s even later. Now she does not have to make some bad choices about having a child with someone she does not really love. She points out that this is way of achieving more equality with men even economic equality. I have never thought of it that way but I think this is an important point. Continue reading
