I just had my own personal inflection point. For various reasons my last blog post got more then times as many visitors as a normal post and the numbers of subscribers tripled. I am not sure what to make of this or how it might impact my blogging in the future. Continue reading
WhenTechnologies Collide: The Next Wave of Computing
This is an amazing graph from GigaOm (see story here). As readers of my blog know, I played a very significant role in creating residential broadband starting in 1992 and continuing until 1999, when I resigned my position at Intel as Corp. Vice President of Business Development. While I was sure then that the Internet … Continue reading
Let the Government do more with less
We seem to have two political positions in our two political parties. The first by the republicans is “spend less and do less”. The second by the democrats is “spend more and do more”. How about “spend less and do more”. We need the government to do more, especially at this time. There is a … Continue reading
My 1993 Performance Review at Intel (a piece of my history but also a piece of the history of the Internet)
I happened to be cleaning up some old files and came across a number of my performance reviews at Intel. I am posting a summary of one, written in 1993, which dealt with my job performance almost twenty years ago. This was the beginning of the most important period of my career. It was also … Continue reading
If you have an early stage company and need to raise money, please do not call me.
I get many requests from early stage companies to give them advice. It is kind of strange since I have been retired (rewired) for about then years. I always try to be responsive and polite. In 2 1/2 years, I will be a 70 former something. I don’t really feel much different than I did when I was a “something” … Continue reading
Intel enters the set top race again and again
For twenty years, Intel has tried to enter the set top box market. The company still does not have a strategy for success in my opinion. Continue reading
Facebook: Mixed feelings about Facebook and some views on the IPO.
Facebook is the latest in a line of mediocre technology companies that were at the right place at the right time. Continue reading
The twitter debates for President 2012
I am tired of the old debate formats on TV. I suggest that we have a twitter debate. Each candidate would be stationed on the stage in a sound proof class cage. The audience (any one in the USA) could send each candidate a tweet question. The candidates would then have one minute to reply. … Continue reading
My musical past and present
Playing piano and composing have played an important role in my life since I was fifteen years old. Now as I approach this quarter of my life (my wife won’t let me say “the last quarter of my life”), I feel the urgency to both have the experience of writing music and the need to leave something behind that others including my grandchildren might enjoy someday and have posted a link to a piece I am working on. Continue reading
